I'm SO lucky!!

I have one of the MOST talented Mother's in the world!  My siblings and I are so fortunate to be able to reap our mother's creative gifts!!  Unfortunately this "S" doesn't belong to any of us...it's a gift for someone!  BUT...I've already put in my order for a "P"!
Step in line sisters...OLDEST goes first!!
Although Pinterest is a useable tool for most people {especially me}, my Mom has been creating and making all kinds of things you see popping up (on the new found addiction) for years!  Yes, I could very possibly need therapy!
I remember WAY back when I was in school my friends would always say..."you have the neatest Mom, she can make ANYTHING, you're SO lucky!"  I would smile and proudly say, "Yep, she sure can!!"
I couldn't believe it when she called me over today to see her "S"!  I had no idea it was going to be so BIG!  I can SO see one sitting on my fireplace mantle!! {hint~hint}
She stepped way back and used one of her old time favorites to decorate with!

Here goes:
*She HAND drew (no projector here) her letter on plywood and then cut it out with a jigsaw.
*She lightly sanded the edges to get rid of splinters then painted it all Black and let it dry!
*Next she "painted" it with glue and waited a while until it was "tacky" not sloppy wet anymore!
*THEN the best part...she covered it with...

SILVER LEAF!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?  WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT??!! (you could also use GOLD LEAF if you accent with more gold in your house)

Simply amazing!  I wanted to load it up and take it home with me even if it was the wrong letter!!  You can't get anymore Shabby Chic than this!  I love it!!  Mom, you amaze me how you NEVER run out of ideas!!

A day in the life of a Farmer's wife...

For the last SEVERAL weeks...this is what I've been up to twice a day {morning and evening}:

Today was the first day that I decided to attach the bottle holders to the fence!  Duh...it took me long enough to figure that out!  No more slobbers slinging back at me if the wind is blowing!  I can handle a LOT but calf slobber is where I draw the line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next picture is a little graphic...so if you have trouble with slobbers too...DON'T LOOK!

Look to the left of the very visible slobber and you can see one string that got caught in the wind {you may have to click on the picture to enlarge it}!  If I would have been holding that bottle...I would have been gagging about now because it would have landed on my hand and all over my leg!  WHEW...glad I found the wire and rigged those puppies up to the fence!
I keep telling myself how important I am to those two babies!  They have NO momma except me!  Their moms both died within a week of each other!  :(  It's just part of farm life!

The next pictures are of a storm we had brewing above our house last week!  If you'll look closely in the last rainbow picture...you'll see 2 rainbows!  One is very faint!  Just something about a rainbow that makes me smile!  I guess it's just God showing off for us in beautiful colors and reminding us of His promise!!  But, please oh please...don't let me be home alone if there is the possibility of a TORNADO even if I can see a rainbow in the sky!!

Happy Tuesday to all...

{SPRING} & a little memory sharing!!

Spring has always been my favorite time of the year MINUS the Storms!  I love to see everything greening up and all the trees in full bloom!  It's just so refreshing to see the dead life come alive again for another season!  This year I'm going to try my hand at a garden again!  It's been over 20 yrs. since I planted one so we'll see if I "still have it"!  I built my forms last year but never got the veggies planted!  So my job today is to head to the barn and round up my forms. My hubby hates "clutter" in the yard so he so kindly stored them in the barn for me last year...making me work harder this year by having to move them back to their designated place on the farm!  Oh well...it's exercise...right?  I woke up this morning to a beautiful view outside and just had to snap a few pictures.
Bread dough in the bread machine (for cinnamon rolls)...Bottle calves fed...finishing my table & chairs!!!!!!   Loving my Wed. off so far!

Now a little memory...
Do you ever have those things you hang on to "just because"?  I have tons of them!  If you ask my husband he would tell you that I have WAY TOO MANY!
This is was one of them~

Yes, I know...it's broken!  It broke on Monday and I'm having a hard time throwing it out so I thought, why not just take a picture!?!  I've had this little Strawberry Shortcake glass since my kiddos were little!  It was a very used glass!  Every time I wanted a little drink of water out of the sink, it was my "go to" glass!  I always thought back when my kids were little and still at home!  Oh, the memories!  Goodbye Strawberry Shortcake...you'll be missed!!
ps~anyone have a strawberry shortcake glass you want to pass my way??

Dresser COMPLETE!!!

FINISHED!!
I posted about this on Thursday hoping to get it done before my hubby's birthday on Sunday!  Well, we had a long busy weekend so I showed him a sneak peek and promised to finish it today!
It was so much fun to make!  He's is a huge Oklahoma State fan. Since I've self diagnosed myself as an "organized hoarder" I just happen to have this old dresser sitting around from when my kids were babies and I thought why not...it's just taking up space in my garage anyway! I love the way it turned out!
I've never used wax as a finish before but I absolutely love how it turned out!!  Love me some Annie Sloan paint too!! {Barcelona Orange and Graphite}

Dresser RE-DO

I have been in love with this dresser since the first time I saw it on Pinterest!

I saved it and have kept going back to it and I FINALLY started my project!
My husband's birthday is Sunday and he asked me to “finish” his OSU room upstairs!  I really think he thinks I’ll fail him big time!  So if you see him…DON’T tell him about his new dresser that is going in the room!  After Sunday it’s ok to talk about it!  Lucky for me…he doesn’t ever get on the computer and never asks too many questions about projects strung out all over the garage!

Dresser is primed…Drawers are painted Annie Sloan Barcelona ORANGE!  It’s all ready for my lettering that I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo (that I LOVE by the way!)

Next step after that will be to paint the whole dresser Graphite (over the vinyl lettering) and then peel off the vinyl stickers to reveal the orange underneath!  I can’t wait for the reveal!!!!  Check back for the FINISHED project!!  I just wanted to give you a sneak peek and keep myself accountable to FINISH it!

It's about time!!!

I'm the worlds WORST at starting something and putting off finishing it!  I almost always complete it if I've started it but hardly ever in the same month and sometimes not the same year!  My poor grandson Mac has had to wait for his "baby" blanket!  Good thing I made it so he could grow older with it!  He didn't even know he was waiting for it!  If I only would have stayed in quilting class...
So at 2 1/2 he'll be getting it.  I can't wait to give it to him!
