Backscratcher and...a recipe!

I know...the two have absolutely NOTHING in common!  Except...I get excited over both of them!

I just made a box milk chocolate cake (because that's what I had in my pantry!) put it in a sheet cake pan and baked it!  Then while the cake was still warm... I poured the frosting over the top of it!  Here's that recipe:

German Chocolate Cake Frosting
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. evaporated milk
Microwave above until almost bubbly.  2 min. stir, 2 min. stir, etc.
Then add:
3 beaten egg yolks (tempered with the hot mixture)
Microwave the same as above until a slight boil has occurred and it has thickened.
Add in:
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. flaked coconut
Stir together and pour over warm cake.  Then you can lick the remaining ooey gooey frosting in the bowl!

I will say that I did make it (I cut the recipe in 1/2)...AND it is to die for!  I'm hooked!!!  Yes, I'm in boot camp...but, it's ok to splurge now and then!  Hey, if I use skim milk and only a little sweetened condensed milk it will help, right??

Life on the Farm for little sis...

Last night my youngest sister, Kamron, was leaving my house and she went out the side door...it was pretty late and dark.  A few minutes after she left I received the following text with a fuzzy picture:
"I know you can't really see it but when I opened that side door this cat was right in front of me with a freakin' mouse in it's mouth. Ugh!!!  Country life=disgusting!"
To us...that's a good thing!  Not all cats know their calling in life!  Mr. Grey knows exactly what to do!  He's always dragging up a mouse, a lizard, or even a gopher!  He's a keeper!  I even had someone ask me the other day if I would "rent" him out to get their gophers!
After I got her text I couldn't quit laughing at the thought of her opening the door and seeing that!!  She's such a girly girl!  I can't believe she stopped long enough to take a picture of it!  I told her that it was a good thing it wasn't a snake in his mouth!!  And here is what she text back:
"Omg, if there was a snake you would have gotten a call and I would be sleeping between you and Mike tonight!"
I also informed her that I grabbed the big camera and went outside so she could have a better picture for keepsakes!  Kam this blog post is in honor of YOU!!  Love Ya Kam!
PS...Everyone needs a little cat/mouse excitement in their life once in a while!

~Slight case of ADD~

My Mom always said we all (our family) have a slight case of ADD!  Here is a perfect example!  I have NO business in the kitchen today making a cake!  No Birthdays...No Weddings...No Showers...Nothing!  And I definitely don't need to be eating cake!  Boot Camp and Cake will NOT mix!  But I couldn't wait to get in my kitchen and try out this tye die cake!

Now...back to the laundry...

ATTENTION: SUNSCREEN REMINDER!!

Just a gentle reminder of how hot the sun is!!!!  YES...that is my back and YES...I needed a reminder myself!  I planted flowers all day and never once thought about how hot my back was getting!  Just thought my tank top was a little hot because it was a dark color!  DUH!!  Yes, Mom...you taught me better than that!!!
It's late and I just took some aspirin!  Hoping to get a little sleep somehow!!  I think I'll print this picture out and hang it on my bathroom mirror to remind myself of how dumb this was and so NEXT time...I'll remember the sunscreen!
